Gaia Time #3 -Hand Sew your Period Pad (makes two)

Making your Period Pad

Hand Sewn Menstrual Pads are effective, though you'll need to use something like the Mooncup at night for reinforcement or Natural Sea Sponges (Sea Pearls), both can be brought on e-bay (though make sure you are buying a Mooncup from Mooncup brand and not an imitation).

  1. Sew around edge of each of your two Ironed Ovals, using fingers to adjust the hem to line up as you go (reinforce by sewing twice).
  2. Sew a  rough line down each side of the Oval (see diagram), to out lay where it will sit on your gusset.
  3. Then for sewing on of the Button and the Friendship bracelet style button loop. This is fiddly at the best of times though if you sew the button on close to the edge of the narrow side and the button loop on the other narrow side this should be fine.
  4. To make the Friendship bracelet style button loop, crochet a thick cotton thread and tie a knot, to finish the crochet. It should be roughly 3cm long depending on the size of your button.
Once attached you have a Hand Sewn Period Pad to attach to your underware.
