Gaia Time #1 - Hand Sew your Period Pad

Here is a fairly simple Haberdashery instruction (see next few Posts) to making your own Menstrual cycle 'Pad'.

My sister, Vikki is on her Menopause and she said that she's near the end of her Period cycle and that her idea of an ideal world is one where women do not 'Hide' their Woman hood by not speaking up about their Women's Health issues- we should hide them (as they are discrete); they are sacred, though not be ashamed of them!

Hence this Blog post on Creating your own Menstrual Pad (Usable if you have Bleach and Washing Machine and preferably an iron):

The Pads in the Photograph are made in Japan, also consider buying Sea Pearl* sponge Tampons online and affix a bit of tooth floss/to use as Tampon string and thread it through the length of the sponge.

Steps 1- 8
  1. Find some New or Used (a Promotional Tote Bag works well) soft material, Organic cotton is best, to make two Menstrual Cycle 'Pads'.
  2. Make sure you have a Button and know how to make Friendship bracelet style Buttonholes or loops
  3. You need sharp sewing Scissors, White thread and a needle.
  4.  Each Pad takes about 6 hrs to sew

NB: The Menstrual Cup is very effective (if you have access to running water, bottled spring water if you're in a foreign country with low sanitisation standards) you need to have two Mooncups (a Menstrual Cup). You choose between the two sizes, Large and Small
If you have a larger build then you may want to consider choosing a Large one, though even a Big lady (say an Obese woman) may choose Small as she might sneeze and that would be a dilemma if it were to come out (not very likely).

You change the Menstrual Cup every eight hours.  Make sure you get the official Mooncup and not an imitation one, you can buy it on mooncup.co.uk and it will arrive with full instructions.

*Sea Pearls (sponges) and own-made Menstrual Cycle Pads are not interchangeable, you use your own for yourself only, and the Cotton you put into your own-made Menstrual Cycle Pad to absorb the Blood flow.
